Reetha Oil

Reetha Oil

Reetha oil brings together two cornerstones of traditional Indian hair care in a single bottle: soapnut (reetha, Sapindus mukorossi), long associated with hair and scalp care, infused into nourishing sesame oil. The result is a warm, conditioning, heritage-rich hair oil. It's worth being clear about what it is. Reetha's famous foaming, cleansing saponins are water-soluble – they belong to soapnut water, powder, and shampoo, and don't carry meaningfully into an oil infusion.

So this is a conditioning hair oil, not a foaming cleanser. And that's exactly its charm: a gentle, traditional oil that softens and comforts the hair and scalp, carried in a classic sesame base rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids and the natural antioxidants sesamol and sesamin. Light, conditioning, and rooted in tradition, it's lovely for a pre-wash scalp massage and a natural base for hair-care formulations. An infused oil for external cosmetic use, used neat or in blends. Supplied 100 ML to 10 KG with COA, MSDS, and TDS, from Raasa Oils.

Reetha Oil Benefits

Reetha-Infused Hair Oil

Reetha oil unites two pillars of traditional Indian hair care: soapnut (reetha), long associated with hair and scalp care, infused into nourishing sesame oil. The result is a conditioning, heritage-rich hair oil that carries reetha's botanical character in a gentle, time-honoured base – a natural favourite for traditional-style hair rituals and formulations alike.

Conditioning for Hair

Massaged through the hair and scalp, reetha-infused oil helps hair feel soft, smooth, and manageable and leaves a healthy shine. Its conditioning character suits pre-wash and scalp-oil rituals, helping ease the feeling of dryness without weighing hair down – a comfortable, nourishing oil for everyday and traditional hair-care routines.

Sesame-Based Oil

The sesame-oil base is itself a classic hair and skin oil – naturally rich in oleic and linoleic fatty acids and the antioxidants sesamol and sesamin, which give it good stability. That makes reetha oil a soft, conditioning, dependable oil that feels comfortable on scalp and skin and holds up well on the shelf.

Formulator-Friendly

Reetha-infused oil is an easy, plant-based addition to natural hair-care formulations – hair oils, pre-wash treatments, scalp blends, and masks. It blends cleanly with other carrier oils and botanicals, letting formulators build on a recognisable, traditional Indian hair-care story with a gentle, conditioning oil.

Reetha Oil Uses

Hair Oils

Reetha-infused oil is a natural fit for hair oils, scalp serums, and conditioning treatments, where its traditional reetha character and gentle sesame base help hair feel soft, smooth, and nourished. It's a comfortable pre-wash or scalp-massage oil and a heritage-rich base for traditional-style hair-care products.

Traditional Hair Rituals

Reetha and sesame are both cornerstones of traditional Indian hair oiling. Reetha oil is lovely for a classic scalp-and-hair massage (champi) – warmed and worked through the lengths as a pre-wash treatment. It conditions and comforts the scalp and leaves hair soft and glossy – a heritage ritual in a single bottle.

Hair Care Products

As a conditioning oil ingredient, reetha-infused oil is used in shampoos, conditioners, masks, and hair serums to add a traditional reetha-and-sesame character. It helps hair feel soft and smooth and supports a nourished-looking finish, giving natural hair-care brands a recognisable, heritage-led botanical to build around.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, this is an important distinction. Reetha's foaming, cleansing saponins are water-soluble and belong to soapnut water, powder, and shampoo; they don't carry over into an oil infusion. So reetha oil is a conditioning hair oil – it softens and nourishes hair and scalp rather than foaming or washing.

It's reetha infused in sesame oil, so anyone with a sesame allergy should avoid it or seek advice. Always patch test first.

Yes, it's lovely used neat as a pre-wash or champi (scalp massage) oil, warmed and worked through the scalp and lengths, then washed out. It can also be blended into hair-care formulations.

It's mainly a hair and scalp oil in the traditional Indian style, though its gentle sesame base is comfortable on the skin too. Patch test first if your skin is sensitive.

Cool, dark, and tightly sealed. The sesame base (with sesamol/sesamin) gives good stability, but cool, dark storage preserves it best.

Yes, as a supplier, bulk distributor, and wholesaler, we offer 100 ML up to 10 KG (and larger on request) at wholesale pricing, with COA, MSDS, and TDS available. For bulk, private-label, and export enquiries, contact our team directly.

Disclaimer

Reetha Oil is a reetha (soapnut) infusion in sesame oil, for external cosmetic use. It is a conditioning hair oil – it does not foam or cleanse like soapnut water, powder, or shampoo (reetha's saponins are water-soluble and stay with those, not the oil). Used neat as a hair oil or blended into formulations; it is not an essential oil. It is a cosmetic ingredient, not a medicine, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition (including dandruff or any scalp or skin disorder), and it does not whiten skin or grow hair. It is sesame-based – avoid if allergic to sesame. Patch test before first use if you have sensitive skin, and keep away from the eyes. If pregnant, nursing, or under medical care, consult a professional before use. Store cool, dark, and sealed.

Caution

For external cosmetic use only. Sesame-based – avoid if you have a sesame allergy. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes. Patch test before first use if your skin is sensitive. Discontinue if irritation occurs.
