Pomegranate Liquid Extract

Pomegranate Liquid Extract

Pomegranate Liquid Extract is a cosmetic formulating ingredient made by drawing the compounds of the pomegranate fruit (Punica granatum) into a liquid carrier. We supply two versions, so it fits whichever phase you work in. The water-soluble version is water-based and colourless, for toners, gels, serums, shampoos and any water phase.

The oil-soluble version sits in an oil base, for face oils, balms, butters, hair oils and the oil phase of creams. Its job in a formula is skin conditioning – it belongs in products meant to leave skin and hair feeling softer and smoother. Because it is carrier-based rather than a concentrate, it is mild and easy to work with, added at a low percentage rather than used neat. It is cosmetic grade and not for consumption. We make it in India to a written specification, supplied with COA, MSDS and TDS, from 100 ml to 10 kg in either version.

Pomegranate Liquid Extract Benefits

Woman applying cream to her face against a plain background

Smoother Skin

The oil-soluble version arrives in an oil base, and that base is most of what goes into your formula. It spreads easily, sinks in without leaving a heavy film, and leaves skin feeling smooth and cushioned rather than coated. A cream, lotion or body butter made with it feels finished the moment it is worked in.

Shinier Hair

Worked through the lengths before a wash, or smoothed sparingly over dry ends afterwards, the oil-soluble version adds slip. Hair combs out with less tugging, looks glossier where the light catches it, and sits smoother at the ends. It suits the pre-wash oiling habit your customers already keep, in a product that also carries a fruit botanical.

Fresh Skin

The water-soluble version carries no oil at all, so a toner, facial mist, gel or water-based serum made with it stays light, sinks in quickly and leaves nothing sitting on the surface. Skin feels clean and comfortable rather than coated, which is exactly what a customer with oily or combination skin is looking for.

Hair Keeps Its Bounce

In shampoo, conditioner, a scalp tonic or a leave-in mist, the water-soluble version adds no weight, because there is no oil in it to weigh anything down. Fine or freshly washed hair keeps its body and movement instead of falling flat, and a wash made with it rinses clean without a second lather.

Pomegranate Liquid Extract Uses

Skincare Products

A cream or lotion has both a water phase and an oil phase, so either version works – you add it to the phase it belongs in. Water-soluble goes into the water phase; oil-soluble into the oil phase or at cool-down. Face creams, hand creams, body lotions and moisturising milks are the largest single use of this extract.

Facial Toners

This is what the water-soluble version is made for. It disperses into toners, essences, facial mists, aloe and clear gels, water-based serums and sheet-mask essence without clouding them, because it is colourless and water-based itself. It also drops straight into shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand wash, which are water-based systems too.

Face Oils And Balms

The oil-soluble version blends into anything with no water in it: face and body oils, cleansing oils, balms, salves, body butters and oil-based scrubs. It stirs into other oils at room temperature and stays put. In cold-process soap, add it at trace, where it behaves like any other oil in the recipe.

Hair Care Products

For shampoos, conditioners, scalp tonics and leave-in mists, use the water-soluble version, which disperses into water-based systems and leaves hair light. For hair oils, pre-wash oil treatments and serums for the ends, use the oil-soluble version. Both belong in a hair range; they simply do different jobs at different points in the wash.

Frequently Asked Questions

The water-soluble version is water-based and colourless, for toners, gels, serums, shampoos and the water phase of creams. The oil-soluble version sits in an oil base, for face oils, balms, butters and hair oils. They are not interchangeable.

No, this is cosmetic grade and for external use only. Pomegranate juice is a food; this extract is not, and it should never be swallowed.

No, and no liquid extract can be. It is pomegranate drawn into a carrier — water in one version, oil in the other — which is precisely what makes it easy to dose into a formula.

Add it to your formula at the percentage on the technical data sheet supplied with your order, not neat onto skin. Patch-test the finished product before wider use.

No, Pomegranate Seed Oil is pressed from the seed and used as a carrier oil in its own right. This is an extract of the fruit in a carrier, added to a formula at a small percentage.

Yes, 100 ml to 10 kg in either version, each batch with COA, MSDS and TDS. Store cool, dark and tightly sealed, away from sunlight.

Disclaimer

Pomegranate Liquid Extract is a cosmetic ingredient for external use, added to a formulation at a recommended percentage — not a concentrate to be diluted, and not for internal use. This information is general, not medical advice. Patch-test the finished product and consult a professional about any specific skin concern.

Caution

Cosmetic grade — for external use only. Not for consumption, whatever pomegranate does in the kitchen. Keep away from eyes and out of reach of children. Patch-test your finished product before wider use and stop if irritation occurs. Pregnant or nursing customers should seek advice. Store cool, dark and sealed.
