Orange Blossom Hydrosol

Orange Blossom Hydrosol

Orange Blossom Hydrosol – also called neroli water or orange flower water – is the aromatic water collected when the blossoms of the bitter orange tree (Citrus aurantium amara) are steam-distilled. It is a hydrosol: mostly water, carrying orange blossom's soft, sweet floral-citrus scent and a gentle, fresh character. We supply it for external cosmetic use – as a facial mist and toner, in light formulations, and in aromatherapy.

Unlike an essential oil, a hydrosol is gentle and used as it is, not diluted – you mist it straight onto the skin. Because it is water-based, we preserve it with sodium benzoate (not more than 1.5%) so it holds its shelf life, and we state that openly rather than calling it preservative-free. We make it here in India, steam-distilling bitter orange blossoms ourselves, and ship it in bulk with a certificate of analysis for every batch. The full INCI, the preservative and the pH are stated on the technical documents, so what goes on your label matches what is in the drum.

Orange Blossom Hydrosol Benefits

Hydrating Facial Mist

Orange blossom water makes a beautiful facial mist. Spritzed over the face, it settles as a fine, weightless spray that leaves skin feeling fresh, hydrated and comfortable – the classic way to use a floral hydrosol. It is light and water-based, so it refreshes without any heaviness or stickiness, and it is lovely used throughout the day or after cleansing.

Gentle Skin Toner

Orange blossom water is a recognised skin-toning ingredient, which makes it an easy fit for a toner. Used after cleansing, it freshens the skin, preps it for what comes next, and leaves it feeling clean and comfortable. It is alcohol-free and mild, so it tones without the tight, stripped feeling a harsher toner can leave behind.

Leaves Skin Fresh

A mist of orange blossom water leaves skin feeling fresh, soft and lightly hydrated rather than dry or tight. Its water-light texture sinks in instantly, with no oily film, so it layers happily under serums, moisturisers or makeup. That clean, fresh finish is a large part of why orange flower water has been a skincare staple for so long.

Relaxing Aroma

Above all, orange blossom water is loved for its scent – the soft, sweet floral-citrus aroma of neroli, with the gentle, relaxing character it is famous for. A spritz leaves both skin and air beautifully, lightly scented, which is why it is a favourite in face mists and aromatherapy sprays alike. It is a fragrance people love to have around.

Orange Blossom Hydrosol Uses

Facial Toners

This is orange blossom water's home ground. It works beautifully on its own as a facial mist or toner, or as the water base of one, bringing light hydration, a toning feel and its signature floral-citrus scent. Because it is gentle and used neat, it suits leave-on mists, setting sprays and toners aimed at a fresh, hydrated finish.

Skincare Products

In creams, gels, lotions and light moisturisers, orange blossom water goes into the water phase in place of some or all of the plain water, carrying its toning, hydrating character and a soft floral fragrance. It is water-based and easy to work with; just account for its own preservative and pH, and keep your finished product properly preserved.

Aromatherapy

Orange blossom water's soft, relaxing neroli scent makes it ideal for aromatherapy mists, body sprays and room or linen sprays. Alcohol-free and gentle, it leaves no stain or residue, and blended with rose, lavender or geranium hydrosols it builds a beautiful floral spray. It is a simple way to bring a fresh, calming scent to a space.

Cosmetics Products

Handle orange blossom water as a water-phase ingredient. It can replace part or all of the water in a formula, bringing its scent, toning and fresh character; add it to the water phase and keep normal cool, hygienic handling. It is preserved with sodium benzoate, which works best in acidic formulas, so check your finished product's pH and preservation.
