Onion Liquid Extract

Onion Liquid Extract

Onion Liquid Extract is drawn from the fresh bulbs of Allium cepa – grown across Maharashtra, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, in one of the largest onion-producing countries in the world. It carries the quercetin and organosulphur compounds that onion is known for, in a form built for cosmetic manufacturing rather than the kitchen. Onion is among the most recognised botanical names in Indian haircare.

We supply it in two solubilities: a water-soluble grade for shampoos, serums and aqueous systems, and an oil-soluble grade for hair oils and anhydrous bases – a choice most extract suppliers do not offer, and one that lets a single approved source cover an entire product range. Both are cosmetic grade, batch tested and supplied with documentation. Raasa Oils ships from 100 ml trial bottles up to 10 kg bulk, with certificates of analysis issued for every batch and samples available before you commit to a production quantity.

Onion Liquid Extract Benefits

Person with styled hair in a salon setting

Feel Like Real Onion

Onion is the botanical Indian hair care is built around, and this extract carries genuine onion content — its natural sulphur compounds and quercetin — into a hair oil, shampoo or serum. Worked into a formulation, it gives hair a soft, conditioned feel, so the finished product delivers real onion rather than only naming it.

Natural Antioxidant

Onion is naturally rich in quercetin, one of the plant antioxidants skincare formulators look for. In a face serum, cream or gel, this extract adds that natural antioxidant botanical to the formula, giving a skincare range a genuine plant ingredient a customer can read on the label rather than a synthetic stand-in.

Light in Use

Both grades are light in a formulation and add no weight or tackiness. The water-soluble grade disappears into a shampoo or serum base, and the oil-soluble grade blends cleanly into hair oils without thickening them — so a finished product feels the way you designed it, not the way an additive forced it to.

Sulphur-Rich Ingredient

The sulphur compounds onion is known for make it a natural fit for scalp-care products. Worked into a scalp oil, serum or treatment, the extract gives the scalp a clean, nourished, cared-for feel, delivering the onion-and-sulphur content people specifically want from a scalp product they use as part of a regular routine.

Onion Liquid Extract Uses

Hair & Scalp Serums

Hair oils and scalp serums are the largest use for this extract in India. The oil-soluble grade blends directly into coconut, sesame, castor and mineral oil bases at one to five per cent, dispersing evenly without clouding or separating, and giving the finished product a genuine onion content for your ingredient list.

Hair Care Products

In shampoos, conditioners and cleansing systems, the water-soluble grade incorporates readily into surfactant bases without affecting foam, clarity or viscosity. It lets a brand carry onion through an entire range rather than only in the hero oil, at typical use levels of one to ten per cent depending on the format.

Hair Masks

Hair masks, scalp treatments and leave-in products take either grade depending on the base, letting a brand build a full onion regimen around a single ingredient. Because you control the inclusion rate, each format can carry a different concentration while still drawing on the same approved and documented raw material.

Skincare Formulation

Beyond haircare, the extract is used in creams, serums, gels and cleansers where a brand wants onion's botanical content on its ingredient list. The water-soluble grade suits aqueous formulations and the oil-soluble grade suits balms and anhydrous systems, so both sides of a skincare range can draw on one source.
