Lavandin Hydrosol

Sprayed neat over the face or neck, it lands cool and leaves skin feeling fresh rather than tight. There is no alcohol in it at all, so nothing strips or stings on the way, and the clean lavender note settles into a soft background within a minute or two of drying.

Misted through hair between washes, it leaves the scalp feeling clean and the lengths lightly scented. It adds no weight and no oil, so hair is refreshed rather than coated, and the fresh camphorous note lingers a good deal longer than a sweet floral would in the same place. No rinsing needed.

Misted over pillows, sheets and curtains, it leaves fabric smelling clean rather than perfumed. The camphor edge is exactly what a linen spray wants, because it reads as freshly laundered rather than as a scent laid over the top, and it carries no colour to mark cloth. Refresh a bed without washing it.

The aroma is fresher and sharper than lavender hydrosol, with a herbaceous camphor lift in place of the sweetness most people expect. It is the lavender note you recognise from clean laundry rather than from a garden, and it suits a kitchen or a bathroom far better than a sweeter water.

Toners, facial sprays, sheet mask liquids and micellar bases all take lavandin hydrosol directly, and it works neat as a finished mist with nothing added at all. That makes it about the simplest product you can bring to market, and the fresh profile suits a daytime range particularly well. Nothing further is needed.

This is the commercial case. Most lotions, gels and toners list Aqua first because a hydrosol at three times the price cannot justify itself. Lavandin can, so you swap plain water for a botanical water, gain both a scent and an INCI, and the spreadsheet still works. The label reads better too.

Linen mists, pillow sprays, room sprays and natural surface products all use lavandin for a clean camphorous freshness. It needs no solubiliser because it is already a water, it leaves no mark on fabric, and it is priced to be used generously rather than sparingly. Sprays evenly and dries without a mark.

Leave-in sprays, curl refreshers, scalp mists and the water phase of shampoos and conditioners all suit it well. The fresh note reads as clean on hair without turning sweet, and it pairs naturally with rosemary and geranium hydrosols in an everyday haircare range. Both rinse-off and leave-in products take it well.
