Jatamansi Liquid Extract

Jatamansi Liquid Extract

Jatamansi Liquid Extract is a precious aromatic botanical extract of Nardostachys jatamansi – better known to perfumers as spikenard – a root prized for millennia across the Himalayas and the ancient world for its deep, earthy, woody-sweet scent. That distinctive aroma is its gift to formulators. Spikenard is one of the classic base-note aromatics of natural perfumery, and its warm, grounding character makes it a favourite in relaxing, spa-style, and meditative fragrance and bath formulations.

It also carries a long heritage in traditional Indian hair and skin care. To make it easy to formulate with, it's offered in two forms: a water-soluble grade (water-based) for toners, mists, and aqueous products, and an oil-soluble grade (sesame-oil-based) for facial oils, hair oils, and balms. A cosmetic-grade ingredient for external use – added at low levels into finished products, not consumed. Supplied 100 ML to 10 KG with COA and MSDS, from Raasa Oils, from responsibly sourced material.

Jatamansi Liquid Extract Benefits

Spikenard Aroma

Jatamansi is spikenard – one of the world's oldest and most treasured aromatic botanicals, with a deep, earthy, woody-sweet scent. That distinctive aroma is its great gift to formulators: a grounding, meditative fragrance note prized in natural perfumery, incense-inspired blends, and relaxing spa and bath formulations built around scent.

Grounding Note

Jatamansi's warm, woody, grounding aroma makes it a favourite in calming, spa-style, and sensorial product experiences. Blended into bath products, massage bases, and fragrances, its scent lends a feeling of quiet and warmth – a beautiful natural aromatic for brands building relaxing, ritual-led products around fragrance and touch.

Traditional for Hair

Jatamansi has been valued in traditional Indian hair and skin care for centuries. As a cosmetic extract, it lends its botanical character and grounding scent to hair oils, shampoos, conditioners, serums, and creams, where it's associated with a nourished, well-cared-for feel – a heritage-rich botanical for natural hair- and skin-care formulations.

Dual Formulator

Available in both water-soluble (water-based) and oil-soluble (sesame-based) forms, jatamansi extract slots into almost any formulation. Formulators choose the water-soluble grade for toners, gels, and mists, and the oil-soluble grade for facial oils, hair oils, and balms – one botanical, two systems, maximum flexibility.
