Frangipani Liquid Extract

The extract carries a gentle sweet-floral note of its own – nothing at all like the strength of a fragrance oil, but enough to give an unscented base a quiet tropical character. In a lightly fragranced product, it will often remove the need to add any separate perfume at all.

A little of the water-based version in a spray bottle makes a face mist that leaves nothing behind – no oil, no shine, nothing to absorb. It goes on cool, dries within seconds and carries a soft floral scent, so it works over makeup just as easily as it does on bare skin.

Warm the sesame-based version between your palms and work it through the scalp and the lengths, exactly as til oil has been used across India for generations. It spreads easily, does not sit heavy on the hair at all, and washes out cleanly while leaving a soft flower scent behind it.

The sesame version makes a straightforward massage oil that glides without dragging and sinks in rather than sitting on the surface of the skin. Applied after a shower while the skin is still warm, it absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy film on clothes at all, and smells quietly of tropical flowers.

Toners, essences, serums, gels, sheet masks and light lotions all take the water-soluble variant, while creams, balms and facial oils take the oil-soluble one. Both add a botanical name to the ingredient list and a soft floral note, without altering the texture or the colour of a pale finished base.

Shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, leave-in sprays and scalp serums all use the water-soluble variant, while hair oils and finishing serums take the oil-soluble one. It rinses cleanly away, leaves no build-up at all on the hair shaft, and gives a haircare range a tropical botanical identity right on the label.

Body washes, bath soaks, melt-and-pour soap, body butters and hand creams all carry frangipani extract very well. It survives the mild heat of a melt-and-pour base, disperses evenly right through a surfactant system, and it lends a real botanical credential to a product that would otherwise have been entirely plain.

Lip balms, tinted balms, body butters and cream products all take the oil-soluble variant at low percentages, where it acts as a conditioning and label-facing botanical. It stays perfectly clear in an anhydrous base, and it will not cloud a lip balm or interfere at all with the dispersion of pigment.
