Carnation Fragrance Oil

Carnation Fragrance Oil

Carnation Fragrance Oil captures the warm, spicy, clove-like scent of carnation flowers – a soft, powdery floral with a peppery lift and a sweet, honeyed warmth. Real carnation absolute is rare and costly, so this is a compounded carnation accord, built from aroma materials to recreate that classic flower and made to smell the same from one batch to the next.

Rich and old-fashioned in the best way rather than sharp or thin, it reads as true carnation the moment the bottle opens – spicy, floral and quietly elegant. Carnation throws well from a wick and lingers in a spray, keeps its warm spice all the way through soap and wax, and sits beautifully beside rose, sandalwood, clove and powdery notes. It suits fine perfume and body sprays, soaps and bath products, candles and incense, and home and cleaning lines equally – wherever a warm, spicy, old-world floral is what a scent calls for.

Spicy Clove Heart

Carnation's signature is spice – a warm, clove-like heart that sets it apart from every other flower. That gentle heat comes from the same family of notes as clove and pepper, and it gives carnation a cosy, spiced-up warmth under the petals. Open the bottle and it is that spicy-floral character you notice first, unmistakably carnation.

Soft Floral

Beyond the spice, carnation is a soft, powdery floral – gentle, rounded and a little sweet, the kind of classic bloom that feels timeless rather than loud. It has a smooth, almost velvety floral body that reads as refined and old-world. That powdery softness is what balances the spice and makes carnation feel elegant instead of sharp.

Peppery, Green Top

Fresh carnation opens with a bright, peppery green top – a crisp, slightly spicy lift, like the smell of a just-cut flower stem. It keeps the scent from sitting too heavy or too sweet, adding a fresh sparkle over the warm floral base. That peppery brightness is a big part of what makes carnation smell alive and real rather than dusty.

Romantic Floral

Carnation is one of the great classic perfume flowers – an old-fashioned, romantic floral that carries a nostalgic, vintage character few modern notes can. It is the scent of a florist's shop and a dressing-table bloom at once, familiar and full of warmth. That timeless, romantic quality is why carnation has stayed a favourite in fine perfume for generations.

Carnation Fragrance Oil Uses

Perfume Industry

In perfumery, carnation is a classic spicy-floral note that has anchored fine fragrance for over a century, from fougères to chypres. This oil brings its warm, clove-like floral to perfumes, body sprays, deodorants and colognes, pairing beautifully with rose, sandalwood, spices and powdery notes. It works as a heart note in romantic, spicy and classic floral compositions alike.

Soap Making

Carnation gives soap and bath products a warm, spicy-floral scent that survives saponification and stays strong in the set bar. It works in cold-process, melt-and-pour and liquid soap, and in bath products and washes, keeping its clove-warm character right through to the wash. It pairs naturally with rose, sandalwood and powdery notes for classic floral ranges.

Candle Making

Carnation performs strongly in candles and wax melts, giving a warm, spicy-floral throw both hot and cold that fills a room. It holds in soy, paraffin and blended waxes, and its cosy, clove-like warmth suits autumn, festive and classic floral ranges. A rich floral note that stands apart from the usual fresh or fruity candle scents.

Cleaning Products

Carnation is a warm choice for home and cleaning products, where a spicy-floral scent lifts a room. Use it in diffusers, room and linen sprays, air fresheners and incense, and in surface cleaners, floor washes and laundry, where it masks dull base odours and leaves a soft floral warmth. Being pourable, it stirs smoothly into a water-based spray.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, Real carnation absolute exists but is rare and very costly, so this is a compounded accord — built from aroma materials to match the flower's warm, spicy-floral smell at a workable bulk price.

No, it recreates the carnation scent rather than being pressed from the bloom. Think of it as the everyday fragrance-oil version of carnation, made for scenting products, not a botanical extract.

Largely synthetic. Carnation's clove-like scent is built mainly from eugenol and related aroma molecules, which is what keeps every batch matching. On the label it is simply a fragrance oil.

Never neat, it has to go into a finished product at the IFRA skin percentage and be patch-tested first. Carnation accords run eugenol-rich, so that patch test really matters. It only adds scent.

No, not at all, this is not food-grade. Keep it out of anything you eat or drink, and away from the mouth entirely. Its only job is to perfume external and household products.

Give it about two years in a closed bottle kept cool, dark and dry. A warm, spicy floral holds up better than a delicate fresh scent, but heat and light still tire it.

Disclaimer

Carnation Fragrance Oil is a concentrated cosmetic fragrance oil for external and home use — perfume, candles, soap, cosmetics and cleaners. It is diluted into your product, never used neat on skin, and kept to IFRA skin-use levels on anything worn. It is not edible and not a food, medicine or supplement, and nothing here is a medical or treatment claim.

Caution

Never apply this oil neat to skin, hair or face — dilute it into a finished product within IFRA use levels, and patch-test that product. It may contain fragrance allergens, including eugenol. Keep away from children, pets, eyes and open flame; the oil is flammable. Do not swallow or taste it — it is not edible. Store cool, dark and sealed.
