Apple Liquid Extract

Skin conditioning is the cosmetic function apple fruit extract is formally listed for, and it is the plainest thing it does: it helps a finished cream, lotion, or serum leave skin feeling soft and smooth rather than tight. At one to two per cent, it supports that soft after-feel alongside your main emollients, not in place of them.

Apple fruit is mostly water and fruit sugars, and sugars of that kind are humectants – they attract water and hold it where they sit. In a toner, gel or light lotion that shows up as skin feeling hydrated and comfortable for longer. At one to two per cent, it supports your glycerin or hyaluronic acid rather than replacing it.

This is a thin, water-light extract, not a rich one, so it adds a fresh, non-greasy finish rather than weight. That makes it a good fit for gels, toners, light lotions and anything aimed at oily or combination skin, and it carries a soft apple note that reads as clean freshness in the finished product rather than as perfume.

The water-soluble grade goes into shampoos, conditioners, rinses and leave-in sprays at the same one to two per cent. The same fruit sugars that hold water on skin help hair feel smoother and less dry after rinsing, and because the extract is thin and rinses clean, it does not coat the hair or flatten a fine texture.

Creams, lotions, gels, toners, essences, sheet-mask serums and face masks, at one to two per cent of the total formula. Use the water-soluble grade in the water phase and the oil-soluble grade in the oil phase. Before you scale a batch, ask us for the pH and the total fruit-acid content – both affect your preservative system.

Shampoos, conditioners, hair rinses, leave-in sprays and scalp tonics, using the water-soluble grade. It is thin enough to add at cool-down without adjusting your thickener, and it rinses out rather than building up. For a fruit-themed range, it gives skincare and haircare a shared ingredient story, which is worth something on a label.

Body washes, shower gels, bath soaks, melt-and-pour soap bases and syndet bars. One caution worth having in writing: cold-process soap runs strongly alkaline, and both the fruit acids and the preservative system in this extract work in the acid range. It is a better fit for pH-neutral and mildly acidic formats than for a caustic saponification batch.

One raw material across a whole range: the water-soluble grade for your creams, toners, washes and shampoos, the oil-soluble grade for balms and face oils.
