Sesame Seed Oil

Sesame Seed Oil

Extracted from the Sesamum indicum seed through the natural cold press method, Organic Cold Pressed Sesame Oil is 100% pure, unrefined, and a carrier oil used for versatile culinary, cosmetic, and therapeutic applications. Originating from organically grown sesame seeds, it is revered in Ayurveda and as a traditional medicine because of sesame seeds’ antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties, and the lignans (sesamin and sesamolin), vitamin E, oleic and linoleic acids present only at their peak ripeness, and processed below 40 °C to retain them. Mild, golden‑yellow oil is golden in colour and has a subtle nutty aroma that works well in stir‑fries, dressings, marinades, and high heat cooking up to 210 °C. In Ayurvedic abhyanga, its emollient action provides deep nourishing, soothing, and hair strengthening action to skin, scalp, and hair.

Sesame Oil Benefits

Hair & Scalp Health

Containing omega‑6 and omega‑9 fatty acids, vitamin E, and phytosterols, sesame oil deeply moisturizes the scalp to help manage dryness, flakiness, and itchiness and increase blood circulation to hair follicles to strengthen and make the hair more resilient. The emollient oil provides shine without greasiness while its anti‑inflammatory compounds calm dandruff and irritation.

Skin Nourishment

Sesame oil is high in antioxidants (sesamol, sesamin) and vitamin E, and neutralizes free radicals to promote collagen synthesis and the elasticity and the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. This allows it to possess emollient properties that create this protective lipid barrier preventing loss of moisture and improving the appearance of skin to be smoother and suppler.

Metabolic Support

Sesame oil is rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, and this helps to lower LDL cholesterol, regulate blood pressure, and protect heart health. Another type of lignans are sesamin which provides antioxidant and anti-oxidative stress effects and regulate healthy lipid profiles.

Oral Health & Wellness

Ayurvedic self care practice of sesame oil pulling uses the oil’s antimicrobial and anti inflammatory properties to decrease the harmful oral bacteria, plaque and gingivitis. To help alleviate bad breath and support gum health, swish one tablespoon of Sesame Oil in the mouth for 10-20 minutes and spit and rinse.

Sesame Oil Uses

Culinary Applications

Sesame Oil is renowned in foodservice and manufacturing for its balanced smoke point and nutty flavor, which consumers delight in, making for a great stir fry, deep frying, and baking oil. Clean label status and the delivery of its antioxidant stability come together, which is why it supports longer shelf life in prepared foods.

Cosmetic Formulations

Sesame Oil is being used extensively by cosmetic manufacturers in their moisturizers, massage oils, and serums for a combination of its exceptional emollient and antioxidant properties, providing intense hydration along with barrier support to skin. As an anti‑inflammatory and antibacterial, it is a very good base for products for eczema, psoriasis, and other sensitive skin conditions.

Nutraceuticals

Sesame Oil has bioactive lignans as well as a fatty acid composition that aids in the nutraceutical formulations of cardiovascular support, joint health, and antioxidant therapy. To manage cholesterol and inflammatory conditions, the product is marketed in capsules and added to functional foods that have clinical evidence.

Industrial & Technical

Sesame oil has a unique fatty acid profile that is the potential feedstock for biodiesel production. Interestingly, it has superior cold flow properties and decreased greenhouse emissions as compared to fossil diesel.  The conversion of its high seed oil content (56–62%) to methyl ester is efficient, and its cold flow is stable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. When cold‑pressed and unrefined, sesame oil is generally well tolerated, but it’s recommended to perform a patch test on the inner forearm and wait 24 hours to rule out sensitivity.

Untoasted (raw) sesame oil typically has a smoke point around 210 °C (410°F), making it suitable for most high‑heat cooking methods, while toasted varieties are better used as finishing oils due to their lower smoke points and stronger flavor.

When stored in a cool, dark place in an airtight amber glass bottle, the oil retains peak quality for up to 6–12 months after opening.

Yes. Swish one tablespoon of sesame oil in your mouth for 10–20 minutes as part of the oil‑pulling practice to help reduce plaque, gingivitis, and bad breath.
